Bit of a weird one, but i was wondering why it does this ... it's been doing it ever since i can remember playing fps games.

In games like call of duty, cs/css, bf2 or any game with a compass or radar, the arrows or dots of other team members jump and skip about every now and then, it's really weird

I'm wondering if it's a packetloss/errors on my line, because it can't be my pc, because ive upgraded tons of times down the years

I wonder what it is, it's really annoying

You're right, that is really weird. It's affecting completely different game engines, both OGL and DX.

Are you sure it isn't supposed to be doing this? I mean, often a radar will only get refreshed periodically, it's not a realtime display. If you've got a teammate in very close proximity, then their location relative to you can change very rapidly in the space of a second (say going from West of you to the East).

Maybe it's teammates dying and respawning, or enemies being sighted and then moving off of the radar after a certain time etc..

It might be because they are only on the radar when inview of your teammates, they stay on the radar where they where spotted/lost sight off for a short time, then updated when spotted again or just deleted.

Otherwise you'd have a nice radar hack :p

The arrows or dots go really jittery when they turn, and sometimes skip across the radar for a split second

In css sometimes theres a delay when a player is moving, it will update their position every second instead of being smooth :P

I've never played CS:S so I can't comment on what it's supposed to be like, but a 'proper' radar should be doing that anyway (pulsing and updating the position every pulse).
