Players Who Rush Games

I like to do a lot. Never skip cutscenes ever. I think the story makes a game complete else you may as well play angry birds lol.

Never did understand why people would skip all side missions and story and rush the gameplay. Seems silly. You get a fraction of what the game offers you.
EDIT: @above, nah no way a whole year. Mass effect 1&2 could probably both be done in the same week for example. Then again I have time being a uni student haha. It's amazing how much you can do with nothing to do. Complete a game thoroughly in a few days and have loads of spare time still. I often find myself playing a persons working hours lol, then going off to the pub of an evening. And squash once a week, love my squash :)

I blame the increasing amount of attention deficit in society.

Also people who read whole books in a day, they think they're leet but you simply can't appreciate the book properly if you do that.

While I've never been bothered about people power levelling in the early days of a new MMO (or a new server of an existing one), I always wondered how they do it.

While playing Swtor I could maybe hit two or three proper levels in a day, wheras some dudes were hitting the 50 cap in 4 days or less.

Running in a group (you get bonus xp for completing each others missions/bonus missions) space barring content etc.

Part of the reason the game got such a bad rep imo, not that I'm gonna pretend it's a perfect game, but it get an unfair rap because of the "the game begins at endgame" mindset when the game they made is about the journey.

I tend to explore each game as much as possible, however I never try to force myself to do the game 100%. Fallout 3, Oblivion and Skyrim have been good for this, it means I can go back and do a few playthroughs and still discover new things to keep me interested with each new character.

I introduced my friend to the Stalker games a few years ago and lent him my copy of Clear Sky. He commented on how I had much better gear than him, and that I was in areas he'd never seen before, I just explained that I was doing some of the side quests and exploring for loot and being rewarded with better gear.

When I went round to his a few days later as he was complaining that he was stuck and asked if I knew what to do, when he loaded it up he was fighting the monolith troops just before the power plant, but he still had the basic armor, sawn off shotgun and an MP5 from the start of the game. He'd literally blitzed through the entire game in a few days and skipped everything, he then gave up and then labeled it a poor game because it was too difficult at the end. It's a shame some people do this kind of thing as they can give decent games a bad reputation.

I don't really do this.

Occasionally though I find myself rushing through it, if it's a bad game and I want to start on the next one.

I sometimes skip cutscenes if I have no interest in the story.

Depends on the game.

Never read the story line of many, if any questlines in any MMO. I don't play MMOs for the storyline so care not for them. I imagine the same can be said for any other genre where the motive for playing differs also.

Don't see anything wrong with it myself, people just have to do what makes them happy. It's only an issue if they then start complaining online about the game being too short or something. Perfect example being Max Payne 2, got absoultely slaughtered on this forum for game length and people must have been rushing through it, I spent over 1hr on the police station level alone due to all the brilliant in-jokes, easter eggs etc :) Took me a couple of weeks to beat the game I think.

Personally I'm probably about average maybe slightly on the slow side, I don't rush games, I watch all cutscenes, attempt all quests (unless I find one particularly hard/annoying), do all the tutorials etc. But I don't go for 100% completion, generally when I complete the main storyline I'm done, I'm not going to run around Vice City looking for packages or whatever. I also tend to play on medium difficulty, as like some poster mentioned early on, I only have a limited amount of time in whcih I can play games so I don't want to spend hours stuck on a given section.

I don't cheat but I do look at online walkthroughs if I find myself stuck in an area for more than about 10mins.

I don’t really play many new games at the mo, spend more time making missions for a group of us, then playing those as teams..

When I used to play more games in the past I would always watch the cut scenes and play on the hardest setting available on first play. I never wanted to rush games and would look around levels as much as pos before moving on. However, I never play games more than once right the way through, I may play the odd level/mission or whatever again, very rarely, but not a full game.

I have sort of landed on the perfect duo game/sim for me now and have stuck with those (VBS2 & Arma 2). I have just bought Iron Front (hard copy, waiting for it to arrive), but only for the maps, units, vehicles, aircraft etc and of course most importantly the 'Editor', not really interested in the campaign..

I will of course be getting Arma 3 when it comes out, but again not for the campaign, just the new look and the Editor..

I think its age :D
