Playing a DVD

Hey

i have a fresh install of windows xp pro on acer laptop only about 5 months old but i have never been able to play dvd's well i could when i first got it but i formated and installed xp pro sp 2 because i need to be on a vpn.

everyone i try and play a dvd it just lags and the sound is slow. its a fresh install of power dvd ( all above board software.)

Any reason for this? or anything i can do specs are

Sempron 3000+
512 DDR
x700 GFX
Dual Layer dvdrw

..tends to save the day in most cases. Certainly isn't your specs.

You may also want to check background processes if the problem continues and post back here with any that are spiking.
