Playing a video on two different screens at once?

How do I do this? Everytime I try to play a video with wmp or mpc, I get one screen with the video and one with a purpleish background.

Tv is 1366x768, monitor is 1440x900.

try using vlc without hardware acceleration. i think i had to do that once as it would only do it properly on one screen. however this was a while back so maybe things have changed.

could you not mirror the screens?

Play with the render settings in MPC (under output).
