I've recently downloaded the source code for Duke Nukem 3D from the developers website. I've also downloaded DOSBox so I can run the (16bit) game on my 64 bit Windows 7 machine. Only hitch is I need to compile the games source code. I've tried looking for a tutorial but everything I've found so far seems to require knowledge of DOS (which I lack). Can someone please help me out and tell me how to compile the source code?

can you not downlaod the compiled version from thier site?

seems unusual they would give source code bt not that.

Also its my understanding that even if you were to compile the source code, you would also need all the other things that make the game, textures, sounds etc.
I think the source was released as it allows people to recompile the game so things like Eduke32 are possible.

Although you will still need the full game to play, your could take a look at Eduke32 which allows your to run on Win7 has extra support for higher resolutions and is more stable.

It also works with this Hi Res texture pack:

I recently replayed Duke3D and it was awesome experience with all those updates.

Just buy it on gog.com and save yourself the hassle.

If you already own the game on disk then you can use eduke to get it to run nicely in Win7 and the HiRes pack makes things look... shiny.

I recently did this when I fancied playing again.

don't know if it helps or not but i got mine from GOG, downloaded and played, didn't have to configure anything at all.

If it can be done for free, then I don't mind the hassle. I look it as a opportunity to learn something new. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of gog.com, I'll fall back on it if I can't find my original disk (I swear I've got one somewhere). Also thanks for recommending EDuke. I'll check it out in a mo'.
