Playing games on a secondary monitor in full screen?

Is this possible?

I can move a windowed game over to my secondary monitor but the minute I maximise it will move back to my primary monitor.

I really don't want to game on the primary monitor.

Anyone had success? I tried Ultramon and displayfuzion and neither helped, is there any software out there or something else restricting them?

The game I'm trying to move is Guild Wars 2, haven't tried any others.

Yeah I was googling and it seemed a consistent no.

Very annoying.

Ultramon can only do so much before I have to start minimising the game and moving certain things over to the secondary monitor :rolleyes:

Actually what I was googling for was a way to have a full screen game on one screen and a web browser on the other, and switch between them without the game either minimising or going into windowed mode.

The answer to that was "no" as well

Full screen DX games don't behave like normal windows, was the gist of what I was reading.

Can you change the plugs/settings to make your computer think the secondary monitor is the primary and get it to work that way? You can put the taskbar on any screen with W7 so you wouldn't notice a difference while using the desktop. You would always have to play games on the secondary though so might not be ideal.

I just got BF3, it's nice to see the game had an option to play in the secondary monitor

even if he changed over the monitor setup he still would have say bf3 playing on the primary monitor (no 1) and as soon as he opened a firefox/ie or any other application it automatically comes up on the primary screen doesn't it? or am i wrong.

Cant see you saying what GFX card you have?
Nvidia ones can do this via the nview software IIRC

I used this for mass effect 3 where my tv is my 2nd monitor. Iirc i used a hotkey function in nview to move to xx screen.

It works quite well.
