Having read the 'Playing Half-Life 2 for the First Time' thread, I thought it might be good to make one for Morrowind, a game I have never played before (for more than 1h anyway) but is considered to be incredible by many PC gamers! With a little simple modding (i.e. the overhaul mod) it now looks like this:

The atmosphere is incredible! The music, the sound effects (I hid in a tavern in the middle of nowhere during a storm and heard the storm raging outside whilst there were nice fire sound effects inside) the colours...

So anyway, does anyone have any tips or cool sidequests I should check out?

Nothing much to add here, but when I eventually do go back to this (I've never got around to completing it yet), I'm not sure what mod I'll use as there seem to be a few to choose from. Looking forward to seeing what Skywind's like when it finally emerges.

Nice pics, btw. :)

Oh man, why have you done this to me. :( Might have to dust off the old CDs and expansions and start again. Listening to the soundtrack on YouTube now and it's just the greatest of all time.

If only Bethesda could still make a game like this...

Don't minmax. I recently reinstalled Morrowind and minmaxed a character before I started doing quests seriously and it spoiled it tbh. It wasn't RPing at all.

Also that overhaul breaks Bloodmoon. Parts of it need updating otherwise it breaks the very last quest.

I have such fond memories of this game, I lost entire days upon days to this.
The atmosphere, the bleakness yet vibrant beauty of the landscape, the the bloodmoon DLC... This game will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I dont dare go back and play it, i dont think my memories will hold up to the reality.

Cliff Racers are gits.

This.

Hands down the most annoying mobs I've ever encountered in any game. I'd suggest getting a mod to remove them.

Had my 1st proper "whoa!" moment in gaming while playing this as well. I bumped into some guy on a road who asked me to help him with something. As a reward he gave me a helmet called something like "Helmet of Reduced Vision" or something like. But I won't say any more.;)

Post some more screenies Stew, it'd be great to see them :)

I haven't come across a Cliff Racer yet, only a few slug things and a what looked like a dog/spider hybrid in a cave. Definitely having a good time in this, the world is so much more imaginative compared to the later games! I've since installed accurate attack mod, I really wasn't getting on with the "chance to hit" style combat.

I've just made it to Balmora to speak to that... main quest guy. I spent all my money on a bow and arrow so I couldn't take the bus, so I hiked it, which I think was a good decision.
