Playing The Lottery

The idea is those particular 'disliked' celebrities are doing the lottery and if no-one does it then one of those 'cretins' will win and fulfill their woeful idea.

You're not the only person I've seen confused by the concept though. It is rather crap.

It's all meant to be changing this month too. The balls are being changed from 1-49 to 1-59 so the odds of winning the jackpot will go through the roof. You'll win a free ticket if you get 2 numbers with the new changes but it seems to me they are only doing that so they can say the changes will make more winners. The higher numbers are also so the jackpot is won less often meaning bigger jackpots, people are dumb and buy more tickets the bigger it is so more money in camelots filthy pockets.

I'm a sucker for it.

I like to go to bad having bought a couple of tickets, have a quick fantasize about not having to go to my job I hate and take real care of my parents, one who has frontal lobe dementia. To know my kids can go to University, can choose the path they want.

Back in the real world I knuckle down in the job I hate and always volunteer for the tasks nobody wants. I do the things with more chance of failure, that people hate and won't touch and do them well. I accept greater responsibility and more risk.

...i'm betting option 2 will get me what I want far sooner.

The Lottery is a form of voluntary taxation, a negative sum game in which everyone loses, even winners (in the long term and assuming an unlimited life span).

It's an idiot's tax as Frank Gallagher put it but saying that, I do play it lol

A bit harsh. A tax on people who don't understand probability sounds nicer ;)

It always makes me laugh when people add up their winnings over the years, but never how much they've spent...

Why is specifically the lottery an idiots tax? Just because it's drawn at a certain time on a certain day, every week doesn't mean you HAVE to play it.

Do you have to go in the bookies every time you pass it?

People, ether rich or poor, can't spin a few coins on the lottery without being marred?
