Playing tv shows on ipad from usb pen

we’re away soon and I wanted to grab lots of kids tv from iPlayer or the like and store on a usb pen (ipad storage limitations). Can I just grab the Apple lightning to usb cam adapter, whack a pen drive in and play from there?

Yeah, since iOS 13 this became super easy. Just plug and play them in a compatible app (VLC, Infuse, etc).

This is handy to know. Storage was running out for a 64GB iPad and this will be handy for the next trip.

For info, I don't think you can store downloads from iplayer on external media. So I'll have to figure this out, however I have ordered the cam/sd dongle.
