Hi is there any chance you can play videos on your ipod nano? I heard a rumour that this can be done via software, anyone know if its true?

Check out this post on TUAW. You will need to format the iPod, install iPodLinux and the iPodLinux Video Player, and I wouldn't recommend embarking on such a project unless you are aware of the dangers (Losing all the music on the iPod, possibly killing it etc.).

There's a video of the iPodLinux Video Player in action here and a 21 minute long instructional video on getting to that stage here :)

Well, you couldn't really kill it, but I'm sure it's possible to mess up the hard drive (or solid state storage in the case of the nano) quite badly. Watching the instructional video, there are a lot of things which beg the question "What happens if I do it wrong?" As the guy who made the video mentions, "so far not one iPod has been "bricked" from installing iPodLinux, but anything is possible" :)
