playing vob files remotely?

What is the easiest, cheapest way to play vob files form a computer onto a tv around 10 meters away,in another room.

Would it have to be some sort of networked htpc computer, need to be able to display the computer and select the files.

some sort of dedicated media wifi box thingy, or is there some other way?

I know VLC Media Player can stream accross the network and onto the internet, its free and easy to use. you should give it a try. but thats streaming,

if i was using 2 machines then i would simply use a Windows media centre extender

Run cables for sound/video? The alternatives are the many thousands of streaming devices/extenders available.
