Hi

Been a while since I used my Quest 3, due to having chronic back issues.
But, back improved a little and I have bought a Quest 3 from the MM, a 512GB version, for extended storage.

My questions would be about having both headsets in use at the same time, both will be associated with my Meta account. This also would cover PCVR titles, using Virtual Desktop and Steam, possibly more complicated there.

It is about how could two of use share the same game in a co-op / multiplayer / combined experience when using both the headsets at the same time, game allowing that type of play of course...?

I intend to have the 512GB version as my primary headset, not realising at the time of purchase how easy it would be to fill it.

But it is the possibility of the shared experience that intrigues me, if it is a possibility..?

Thanks

you want app sharing. create a second account on one of the headest and enable app sharing.

not every applciation is enable for app sharing but a lot are.

using PCVR titles is a differant issue, but plent of options from Meta Link / steamVR / Virtual desktop / Alvr.
you'd need a dedicate PC per person.
there are titles that allow for 1x VR title and 1+x PC player.

ah, thanks. Thought that the sharing might be easier within the Meta side of things than to expect it to be from a single PC and PCVR, not a starter there. That could influence the choice of some co-op player type games to be bought from Meta, than Steam.

I have just noted this over at YT, could be useful.....

My boy is on an app shared account from my main. All standalone, but I think the only game I've run into issues with is Beat Saber, where he cannot use the DLC I've purchased on the secondary account. We've played plenty of games together like minigolf and dungeons of eternity, demeo etc.

So, is the 2nd headset registered in his name as the primary and then he shares from you on your headset, with the app sharing noted there..? At least that is what I'm picking up from that video above.

Good to know it works as noted.

Thanks.

Main account with the games is primary on both. Secondary account is on the 2nd headset, on the second headset make sure in the primary account, you enable App Sharing (only possible on 1 headset).

Thanks, when I get the Quest 3 from the MM I'll give that a go. Should be helpful :)

Now my 2nd headset has arrived, I get what you mean.

When the second profile is created on either of the two headsets now owned, with app sharing only on that one, I can then switch to the secondary user. However the games and apps that are already installed for the primary user will account for space already allocated on the device. The secondary user will need to install their own versions of those games for themselves to play.
The primary user (owner of the software bought, me in this example, is merely the primary account holder for the 2nd headset to authorise app sharing and access to the games.

Thanks again

I have noted that sometimes the changing of the profile can be a little iffy.
As it always starts up on the primary, you need one profile switch at start.

I think there's a way to set it up to immediately ask which profile you want to use when you turn it on.

For me it seems to just give me the option for the primary account, understanding that the headset was turned of from the secondary. As yet I have not seen a drop down or choices, even with two accounts present, and working.

I'll see what I can find, thanks.
