Playstaion Plus-Expired- Issue

I just reformatted my PS3 hard drive, and went to download the games I received for free when I was a PS plus member(no long a member)

But it seems I can't download them for free anymore? I have checked the downloads list and there not showing up any ideas?
 
Yep, if you no longer keep up your PS+ sub you lose the right to download them, however you can keep them on your harddrive until you delete them.

It sucks, but they do make this very clear in the T&Cs (iirc it was bolded in all of the stuff i read on the PS blog)

Ah Pants! Do you think I will be able to download them again if I resubscribe? There FAQ is not very clear

"Can I re-download PlayStation Plus content?
In most cases, if the content is still available for download, you can re-download it. A Full Game Trial, however, may only be downloaded once."

If you don't renew your PS+ sub you lose it all sadly, you need to keep the sub going to keep all of the content.
 
I thought that you had a x amount of time to renew your sub and keep the
content?

Agreed, that sucks hard, sometimes my acc attached to my PSN runs low as it's a shopping acc and I don't check it every day, lucky I found out about this, temped not to renew now tbh, I don't want to amass loads of decent Plus content and then lose it all a few years down the line just becuase of a technical glitch or that I forget to have enough money in my acc.

How would any tech issues casuse you to lose your stuff though? If you forget to renew and cancel the auto renew then you can just re new later and get the content back ? The only way i could see this as a problem is that im sure i read after 6 months your plus stuff is removed.

Wasnt aware of the 6month grace period. Thought it your sub ended that was it, stuff lost. thats how it sounded earlier in the thread

Well mine ran out when i was on my hols and i was a week or two before i renewed and didnt have any problems at all getting mt stuff back. The 6 month things is for cloud saves and im sure they said it applied to all content but not tested it out for that length myself.

I dont think thats correct though dont quote me on it :p

My experience tells me different - my PS+ sub ended sometime in the small hours on Saturday/Sunday as I forgot to renew my sub and had cancelled the auto-renew in the Service List.

I noticed it the following morning and quite quickly restarted the sub again using the 20% off offer - I then tried Burnout Paradise and it loaded fine and still had my (limited) progress.

I think if you catch it earlier enough its fine when you renew but may not be weeks after it ends. Thats a pure guess as Ive not looked into how it affects your Download List after the sub expires...

Happy to test stuff if people wanna check the validity (just checked Shatter and I still have access to the bonus world so seems it keeps saves too) of the renewed service.

A grace period makes sense. I forgot to renew after my free month (welcome back package) ended for a few days. When I came back to PS+, I could still play Burnout but I couldn't play the Sonic PSOne game I downloaded for free any more.

I figure the reason is that I had never played the Sonic game therefore it didn't 'register' to my PS3, I guess. Not tried checking the download list to see if it is still there, either.
Oh well.
 
Done some further checking and noticed the following:

My Download List has been changed - couldnt find old minis I dled previously (all via PS+) around the start of each month when PS+ updates.

But when I looked into more recent history theres a massive amount of downloads listed for the same day (even Id remember if I dled 60+ things in a day if it was only in the last week or so :p), including things like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage - all things I know Ive got via PS+.

So it seems that yes it edits your download list after it expires but when you renew it, all those expired downloads get relisted in your download list dates the same day as the day you renewed...

Think that means we are covered - for how long the dormant/grace period is, your guess is as good as mine :p

EDIT: Just tried 'Sonic The Hedgehog' which I downloaded at start of March - seems to work fine for me :confused:

Don't forget that the only content you lose if you ditch your sub is the FREE GAMES. Any discounted games, free themes, free avatars and all that jazz are yours to keep.
 
Cheers for the response guys think I will give PS+ a miss there were only few games that I really enjoyed, just going to buy them rather than worrying about paying a sub
