Playstation 2 Setup

Just recently bought a PS2 off the intranet noticeboard at work for my girlfriend so she can play Sonic Mega Collection, Buzz and other such like games.

The PS2 came with the cable which has the 3 different colours on the end connected into a removable SCART socket adapter.

I know with some TV's you can just plug these three coloured cables directly into the TV and press the AV button on the remote and away you go.

My girlfriend doesn't have these ports on her tv so I had to use it with the adapter and plug the SCART socket into the back of the TV.

If your using the 3 coloured cables connected into a SCART socket adapter into the back of the TV should you just be able to get the display by just pressing the AV button on the remote? becuase all I get when I do this is sound put no picture or do you have to search & tune in the channel on the TV?

She also has a DVD/Video combo player linked up with the TV which has those 3 coloured ports on the front and two scart sockets at the back, so does the PS2 scart cable connect to the TV or does it have to go through the DVD/Video player?

Have tried many different combinations but the best I've had it some sound but no picture!

any ideas?

Check the yellow cable is secured properly. If it is it looks like the cable is a dud.

Agreed if you are getting sound then you are on the correct channel. However the picture only comes through on the yellow connector and this could be buggered.

I guess it could be that or the adapter

Will try & get hold of a proper SCART cable from somewhere & not an adapted one & try that

Try unplugging the dvd player, my girlfriend has a similar setup with her gamedcube and she has to turn the dvd player off at the plug otherwise theres just a black screen with sound.
