Ah, they were excellent for the fact that they played PS2 games. Unfortunately it was that model that used to yellow light a tonne :(

If you are interested in keeping it then the back catalogue of games available throughout PS1/2/3 on that console is amazing!

Yep, I've had to replace the laser recently though. It's horrible how slow the PS store is and how long it takes install games.

Still use mine. It's still the best bluray player/media center on the market.
My 60gb is a bit loud though as the fans are always at full, have been for a long time. So I bought a quiet slim for for the living room and the phat is in the back room.

Still using mine albeit with a 500gb drive in, it last week did the ylod, but i havd reflowed and reseated the cooler, and it now works again, for now anyway. I bought mine in august 2006, nine years and sorts of going strong, if it dies again a ps4 is on the cards, oh and just bought a new sixaxis controller after the other two originals now drift as the joysticks are now soft and nolonger spring back to the center.

I've got an original US 60GB too barely even used it, they were the only ones with full PS2 hardware the EU ones were software emulated iirc.

I'm hoping it'll be worth something in 50yrs. :p

It's only partially software emulated.

The US and Japan version had a combined chip which contained the Emotion Engine (PS2 CPU) and Graphics Synthesizer (PS2 GPU) built in.

The EU version only had the Graphics Synthesizer as a chip, with the PS3 Cell Processor emulating the PS2's Emotion Engine.
