To be fair if its not been fully signed/officially announced, they're not gonna agree with it are they? Its not good for company politics whilst the cards aren't all down.

Agreed. Sony's not exactly known for being a bastion of truth and honesty when it comes to rumours (just like any other company, I'd like to point out). 'Hey are you dropping your prices soon?' 'No, why would we do that?' and then... yeah, I think you know how it went.
