Has anybody modded a USB->PSX adaptor into their case, perhaps in a blank drive bay?

I think it would be cool to do this and not too tricky, just seeing if anyone has done it before so I can get some tips.

Doubt anyone has really, but watch me be proved wrong :p

It should be like any of the port based mods though, so some general tips.

1. A rubber surround around the cutout if you can do it makes it look a lot more proffesional.

2. Remember that you are pushing on the port, so it has to be fixed on to withstand it.

Sorry that its generic advice, but its all that is relevant to what your trying!

A different question, is the PSX port adapter for internal usb mounting or will you have to take it outside the case first?
 
do a search on google for gamepad converters. there r a lot of usb versions. im sure u could use 1 to make the mod more easyer to do. i could name some sites but mods on here dont like it ;)

Tosk, we know there are coverters. If you read the question again yuo will notice .. has anyone modded a USB->PSX adaptor into their case :)

tesla you have gave me a great idea, might do it one day :)
 
cant be that hard to do the mod. i would buy or make a 3¼ or 5¼ face plate and cut out the right size hole. them mount the psx port on the back

u could make a simple back plate using somethink like this. to start of

or buy a small sheet of aluminium or plastic upto u what u want to use

yea the blue end is internal pins

seach for usb plate or internal usb cable

here is a usb pin out

look in your mother board booklet that will show you the pin out.

you can mod the pins if needed as shown on this site

I understand that the blue bit there plugs into the mobo, as i have one. But if you have the PSX adaptor on the inside of your pc, to plug it into that you would have to route the cable outside again and plug it into that PCI riser card.

What i meant was an internal usb port that the adaptor can plug into

EDIT: i think i understand you now. Is there not a way to do it without matching the pins up?
 
i just had an idea why not buy a pin out header and cut the cable of the psx converter and wirer it direct the internal usb header

yea you could do that just remove the usb leaders from the plate and plugin the A port if thats what you mean?

like USB CABLE - type A M to 1x5 F
