News dropped this evening.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, currently riding high on record sales of its PlayStation 4 gaming console won’t be hosting its annual press conference or showing up at all during next year’s massive E3 expo.

The news was buried inside the Entertainment Software Association’s announcement of the 2019 show.

Now that we have ‘Spiderman’ out the door, we’re looking down in 2019 to games like ‘Dreams’ and ‘Days Gone’ but we wouldn’t have enough to bring people altogether in some location in North America to have that event,” Layden said.”We don’t want to set expectations really high and then not deliver on it.”

PS5 2020.

I don’t know what that means. Maybe no PS5 announcement until 3rd December 2019 which is 25th anniversary - could be date of PlayStation Experience - and then more info at E3 2020 with launch Nov 2020.

Sucks a bit as my body is ready for launch in 12 months not 24.

Really? I'm still enjoying this generation. Happy for it to go on for another couple of years :)

With that weak arse CPU holding things back to 30fps? No siree. Get Zen in there pronto. And if PS5 sticks to 30fps next gen then that will be horrendous but I expect Xbox to make 60fps standard. They already support 120fps now.

Oh yeah I completely agree on the performance side of things. I try not to look into it too much when I'm playing console games though, I just sit back and enjoy. I think my eyes have adjusted back to 30fps as I've mainly been playing PS4 for the past couple of months.

Yeah, it never bothered me one iota until I bought this PC. I suppose I'd get used it to when/if I make consoles the priority again.

The rumour mill on Reddit is going into overdrive reckoning such things as the PS5 being a "monster" and quite capable of 4K60 gaming with it being revealed mid 2019 and launching sometime in 2020.

I still have a 2019 feeling, 2020 feels too far away to me.

I reckon either of these rough timelines.

March / April 2019 PS5 Reveal
August / September 2019 PS5 Blowout
Nov 2019 PS5 Launch

OR

Just before E3 but Sony event - PS5 Reveal
Nov 2019 - PS5 Blowout
March 2020 - PS5 Launch

The telling time will be March 2019 because of the Game Developers' Conference. If nothing leaks and Sony hasn't officially said anything then it will probably be 2020. :(

It's not the end of 2019 yet... is it? ;)

Doesn't mean too much, for all we know, Sony could just hold their own show. After all this is what many big tech giants do now because it often works out better doing this than attending these big/all for all type of events (look at it from a marketing point of view, you have all these companies at one event competing for the press's attention and often they will just do a general sum up and spend only a few lines/minutes talking about said thing then rinse and repeat for the many other products/companies...... therefore whatever the item is will get lost in the sea of every other news piece and not get as much attention etc. etc.)

You just have to look at the likes of the MWC events i.e. apple, google, Samsung and even HTC don't bother with MWC and instead host their own events and get far more attention, not just from the customers but also the news/press sites ;)
