Playstation's Personality

Pointless.

Or at least at the present. There are no decent games out for it, and it's going to be a long time before it drops in price to the level where the majority can afford it. They've also upset a lot of people with their actions in the run up to launch.

i.e.. The European delay, which as I understand it it due to the inclusion of the slower BluRay drive in the machine. Could we have had them now if it wasn't for that???

Forcing Lik Sang to close rather than stopping one aspect of their business.

Telling us that we want to pay twice the price of a 360 because it has a Sony sticker on it :rolleyes:

For me it's Wii all the way. Cheap and fun, and if it flops then I've not lost too much. I may even get fit playing tennis :)
PS3 - Other than Hi def (which I already have on my PC) it offers nothing

I have to disagree with this, for me PS2 was clearly the best gamers console from last gen. Imagine you could only have one system from last gen, comparing the PS2 against the CG you get the following:

GC:
Metriod Prime x2, Zelda x2 (soon), Pikmin x2, Eternal Darkness, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart and Mario Sunshine.

PS2:
GTA x3, MGS x2, FF x2, GT x2, Guitar Heroes x2, God of War, Ico, Shadows of the Colossus, Okami, Devil May Cry, Ratchet & clank x3, Virtual fighter, Jak and Dexter, Dragon Quest 8, Timesplitters.

All the titles listed have an average review score of over 90% on gamerankings, with the exceptions of Smash Brothers (89.8%), both Pikmins (86.7% and 89.3%) and Mario Kart (86.9%).

I think it fair to say that the CG games are more fun for those who like to play games with a group of friends but overall the PS2 defiantly has a better range of AAA titles.

a lot of the things people say was innovativing about the PS2 was made by 3rd party companies and not Sony. When people say they love the PS2 what they realy mean is they love Rockstar games,Square Enix and EA games etc.

When someone says they love the Gamecube because of Mario, Zelda and Metroid Prime etc they do actual like Nintendo because them games are all first party. I hope that dosn't make me sound to fanboy.
 
dont bother with an ad campaign in europe as sony has seriously lost it in this region, because of the delays, why should we have to wait so long for sony games consoles, PSP was late and now the PS3, at least MS could get the console out worldwide, and dont even start on sonys behaviour when it comes to importers like Lik-Sang

I totally agree with that, Nintendo are a far better publisher/developer than Sony but Sony did an excellent job getting people like Square and Rockstar on board while the CG had virtually no exclusive third party support.

The CG did have some great titles without at doubt and imo any true gamer would own all 3 systems as anyway but if I had to pick one I would take the PS2.

Exactly, the Playstation feels like a consumer electronics product. It shouldn't, the xbox did as well but it shouldn't have. The 360 to me has a lot of personality and of course the Wii (and every nintendo console for that matter) has a lot.

The ps3 screams, i am a consumer electronics product, do your research before buying me. Go and do research. Don't buy.

It doesn't need Edgy marketing, it needs clear concise marketing.

It needs to scream "I AM A KICK ASS GAMES MACHINE AND I do some other stuff"

not

"I AM A MACHINE."

PS1 had a brilliant marketing team to bad they were all let go 3-4 years into the ps2.

BTW just so you get an idea of where im coming from I am CIM'ed.

Thats a good point.
The Playstation3 should be appealling to gamers first and technology addicts second.
 
I feel like im being forced into choosing blue-ray then a gameing machine second and i dont like that. Try post this on a playstaion forum im shore you will get lots of rubbish on there
 
With the emphasis they're putting into Hi-def 1080p, Blu-Ray and all the money they plugged into the PS3, I'd say the Playstation brand is turning kinda snobbish and high end. Its definately changed from the original Playstation and the simple XO[square][triangle] thing.
