PlayTV - A Guide To Using In Windows

My bad.

I was re-organising the files on the site last night. All sorted. :)

OK, thanks, may have a play with this sometime.

Would be handy for me if I could plug it into my server, and then stream live TV around the house via the network.

I can't get a TV signal at all in my bedroom, so if I could stream to my laptop in there, then all the better.

My mate does that with his hacked Nokia cable box, fantastic it is. The cable box is plugged into the living room TV, but also has an ethernet port, from which it's connected to his server. His server acts as a PVR, but it's also accessable on every PC on his network. So he can be watching one programme in one room, and have the cable box displaying another channel in the living room.

I've always wanted to do this, but the closest I've come, is my Topfield PVR, connected via USB, but I can't stream live TV with that, just move recorded shows off the PVR HDD to the server, and stream from there.

(Or the other closest way is remote play with the PSP)

So, if I can plug PlayTV into my server and somehow stream, that would be excellent.

Thanks for your guide and files,
Vin.

No problem. I had been trying to find out how to do this for ages but there wasn't really a decent guide on it and the files were hard to find so might as well help others who want to do it.

Did you manage to get this working after all?? Still get some really random reception!

I discovered that if say I change the channel to BBC1 and there's no reception, restarting the PC and then opening Media Centre will then show the channel.

Obviously not something you want to have to do every channel change but it proves it's a Win7 problem.
