Figured it'd be handy to have just one thread to alert people whenever there's a new update.

Today 1.02 has been released.

Updated in this version:
- Support for Italian channel ordering
- Improved update process
- Faster populating of guide
- Technical performance improvements

:)

OT: Anyone remember that awful 24hr Italian gaming channel on Sky quite a few years back?

It had some hot women and people with really naff knowledge of the English Language, plus adverts for Legend of Myr (sp?) every 15 minutes?

Haha I remember that :p They used to have a news bit where they done it in front of a green screen and the back of the clipboard the newsreader holds is also green so it made their body disappear if they held it in front of them :D

So this gizmo got another update today adding an upscaler for SD television. Has anyone installed it and noticed any improvement? Has the blockiness of on-screen text gone now? I always remember during the snooker, the names/scores on the screen being rather pixellated.

If it wasn't for that channel, I doubt I'd be here today. :p

The only reason I got a pc was so I could play The Myth of Soma lol. Damn game took years of my life away.

Taken from the Sixth Axis:
You no doubt heard lots of things about PlayTV last week, specifically the promise of a brand new software update which was due soon. Well, that update, 1.10, has just gone live this morning. The biggest difference is that the PS3 will now do your upscaling from SD to HD, rather than your television, which normally brings better results, but there’s a few other nice new additions too.

Firstly, you can now adjust the volume via the Blu-ray remote which means you won’t have to fiddle around for the main TV remote when you can’t hear Richard Hammond, and on the same wavelength there’s now some degree of normalisation from channel to channel, meaning that the Hamster will carry just the same audible weight as Tiff Needell on the other side. It’s a nice feature and one only seen in the top-end equipment, which is great to have.

The other tweaks are somewhat minor in comparison: you can now toggle switch back to the previous channel (see above analogy) and you can now set PlayTV to go straight to Live TV rather than presenting you with that horrible carousel menu every time you boot it up. Anyone hoping for a “reminder” function will be disappointed though, it’s still impossible to get PlayTV to switch over when something good comes on, and there’s no series recording either yet. Still, they’ve added a faster rewind speed.

In regards to the upscaling, it's a mixed bag, this morning on BBC Breakfast I could clearly discern more detail than before in the studio, but when they cut to the weather lady outside, it seemed a bit less defined than before and slightly blurry.
Still, it's nice to know that they're constantly looking to improve the system, would be nice to have series link though, or even just a reminder function.

Ta. :)

Good to see more features being added at least.

Still need a series link, and to be able to set recordings further in the future would be nice though. :)

Good news that Sony are supporting Playtv with regular updates & improving its functionality.
Its the best & most reliable freeview box i've had, owned a Top up tv box before & that was appalling, used to please itself what it recorded & was forever crashing. Love my little black box :D
