Just updated my PlayTV to the latest version 2.02 or something with the aim to get series link, only to find I have to pay £7 to get that unlocked along with social media stuff.

I think its a total rip off that they want to charge for something that has been missing since it was released the series link, I do not care at all about the social side of it.

Are Sonly likely to release the upgrade for free any time soon do you think?

i did this yesterday too.

put it this way, if you cannot be bothered manually doing it every other day then pay the £7, otherwise do it yourself for free, it takes all of 20 seconds.

You lasted this long without it, what's the problem?
You can still set manual recordings, I paid for the premium version because I felt it was worth £4 odd with the ps+ discount. If you don't think its worth the money, then don't buy it.
Next there'll be the obligatory person on here moaning about the lack of DVB-T2 support...

While on the subject of PlayTV - anyone had/having the PlayTV startup freeze?

Ive now had it 3 times in the last 3weeks on a refurbed PS3 that Sony replaced at the start of November due to RSOD. Basically when you load PlayTV it doesnt get past the logo screen ever (changing user doesnt help).

The only working fix is to delete the game data which contains all settings and recordings so you lose everything, unless you move it to XMB beforehand. So far Im not sure what causes it, but since Ive had it so often Ive noticed that its best to quit PlayTV and games properly (going back to XMB) before doing something else and when you switch off the PS3 dont have anything running...

Since its only started to happen with the refurb I will be contacting Sony about it but only once I know I can keep my game saves (including the protected GT5 save). Theres no way Im gonna swap it out and lose my GT5 progress - Ive already lost every save I had recently with RSOD...

ps3ud0

I used to get it all the time.

What stopped it for me was making sure I wasn't signed into PSN when trying to load up PlayTV and that seemed to stop it from freezing as much, also having too much stuff on the XMB such as video files etc seemed to make it freeze on start up too, which was easily solved by putting them into folders.
