Ok, i have been reading all your posts and things for a long time now.I read about overclocking and thought id give it a go, but, well, i aint really done that well as i just dont understand it all.If someone could please advise me, then i would be so pleased. I have a Opteron 165 and an Asus A8n32 sli deluxe, 1 gig of corsair ddr400 memory and a brand new artic cooler(fitted chip and cooler today). Can someone please tell me how to overclock this chip.I have only managed 10% overclock.I know the steppings are not the best as my opteron 165 is an CCBWE 0607.But, my friend had this chip at 2.6 ghz. I can only manage 1.98 ghz, which is poor. If someone has the same board and chip, can you please advise a total noob on the bios settings needed.I am sure that someone fron this forum with be able to help me, many thanks. :)

More info of what you have been trying would be better

At which total cpu speed XXXX (1900?)Mhz
HTT speed and multi (x10 x11 x12)?
RAM speed , divider (400, 333 in your asus)
Voltage of everything
HT x1,2,3,4?

your detail spec
Case
GFX
FANS
all cooling
CPU model (number)
RAM model (number) (size, speed form Manufact)
MB (bios version)

Also try the sticky and how to test your component once it is clock

Standard

Cant someone just tell me how to sqeeze a little more out of it.All i did was change from 200 to 220, and i got my chip from 1.80 to 1.98 ghz. I am using the 1205 bios with my a8n32 sli deluxe. My cpu cooler is an artic pro 64.I have not changed much else. But i have now put my cip back to 1.80 ghz. I just hoped that someone could help me get mroe out of this thing. The multi is set at 9, what ever that is.And my graphic card is an BFG 7800gtx 256 megs. Oh, and my case is an atx, loads of room in it and i have a 550 watt power supply.Cpu is an opteron 165 CCBWE 0607.My memory is Corsair CMX512-3200C2PRO (1 gig, 2 stick of 512), Thankyou :)

Overclocking is quite a complicated process, have you read the guide? When upping your fsb you will need to set a memory divider, and also drop the HTT multi

We need to know what your current settings are

Sorry for seeming ignorant or stupid but....

Surely someone has the same motherboard though and chip as me. And can kinda tell me what theyre bios settings are. Im a total noob at this and i have read up so much, just dont get it though.I only want about 2.4 ghz out the thing, and i know it can do that .Everthing is standard , i have not clocked it, its still 1.8 ghz :(( Thanks for the reply by the way, i do appreciate it.

Should be in the mem freq section, I dont have your board but it will either be with the other overclocking options like fsb, voltages etc or in the mem section. It will currently say frequency 200 (400 on some boards IIRC) you need to change this to 166. You then need to find the LDT/HTT multi this will be set at 5 or auto, change it to 4
