Hi Guys, newbie here :) . A close friend of mine recommended this website for buying components for my first PC build.

My budget is between £550.00 and £600.00. I'm looking for a gaming PC and trying to squeeze as much as I can out of this tight budget.

I do not need an OS, I can get that via my uni's MSDN. I currently have Amazon vouchers from Xmas, so that will do for a monitor and I have a keyboard and mouse I can use for the meantime.

My mate is also giving me his old PC case, which is an Antec 300 I believe.

So, I have specced out a PC of my own from the website. My friend told me to get the best processor I can get within my budget and also said the K version of the i5 is overclockable so to run with that?

Here is my first build:

MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr III OC - 179.99

Intel i5 3570K 3.40ghz - 167.99

Z77-D3H Mobo - 75.98

Corsair CX 600W V2 '80 Plus - 56.99

Crucial V4 64GB 2.5 SSD - 51.98

Corsair Vengeance 8GB - 49.99

Arctic Cooling 7 Pro Rev 2 - 15.98

Shipping - 10.00

Total 610.91

Also, I have an old LG Blu-Ray Drive from my old PC which I'm guessing I could use for this?

Thanks for your help in advance guys, cheers

Penny more mate. What a Failure. :)

RJC's is much better..

The PSU is modular, which is always a bonus.

The SDD is SATAIII, so a lot faster and the M4's are mighty reliable.

And the matterhorn is a superb cooler for the price.

Spot on RJC :)

Thanks for the quick reply and your suggestions :)

I wasn't sure what power supply to get, didn't know what would be able to run it. That's also modular so even better, thanks!

Also, in regards to the cooler, would I need to buy thermal paste or does it come pre-applied and it if does, should I use it? Would pre-applied paste be OK without overclocking? This is the only bit I'm really worried about doing right!

Thanks again,

Nick

It comes with a sachet of paste..

It will be more than good enough for overclocking. :)

Fantastic, thank you so much :D

For the record, my mate just said it's an Antec 300 Two case, which going from some reviews seem a pretty good budget case, so that will do for the time being.
