hey, now last night my P4 system died on me. It was a P4 3.0Ghz E, abit AI7, gig of pc3200 and a 6600gt setup... screen wise i have a 19" acer 1440*900 jobby and another crappy 15" LG in dual screen config...
now i was thinking of upgrading soon anyway, however i dont really have the time to sift through all the latest reviews and arguments to find out what pathway to go down.
i have no idea what motherboard i would need, i see a lot of people with the IP35 board and quad core Q6600. I was looking at this route last night. Im tempted by OCUKs bundle at £400 which includes the tuniq tower, some fancy looking RAM and a overclocking guide, but it seems quite expensive and im not sure i really need it?
Basically i have a budget of about £600-700 max, i would like to be able to play the latest games such as crysis (i know this is a very demanding game, but i dont really care on FPS as long as its acceptable to play, im not fussy
) and the odd seshion of vmware.
Also graphics card....... Now after a quick read last night the 8800GTS seemed a good deal (i think it was the BNG one) at 190ish... or do i get the GT or the 9600GT???? like i say ive fallen behind.
Another issue, is my current Nexus silent PSU jobby is rated at 400W. Now would this power a quad core system with 2-3 SATA drives and a 8800GTS etc fine? or should i upgrade that too? If so, what should i get?
I'm going to need a new case, i like the look of the Antec Nine Hundred, is this a good choice? Ideally i wouldnt want to spend anymore than 60-70 on the case.
RAM wise i know its wise to invest in some half decent stuff, anyone recommend anything? 2GB or 4GB?
Out of interest, what is the best budget 24" screen out there?
over to you!
wise me up
