Good morning,

I’m hoping you guys can help me spec a PC for my friend who is looking to get into gaming.

This could be a big ask, but he’s looking to spend £650 (if possible). He was hoping for a 4060 nvidia, Ryzen CPU and AM5 platform so he can upgrade at a later point. It also needs to fit into a Micro ATX case please.

Thank you in advance!

Edit: a lot of the benchmarks suggest the 3070 is better than the 4060/4060ti - is that right?

Hi.

You can source a 7500f CPU from £110 to £130.
Motherboard a620 ot b560 are between £80 to £115
1tb m2 £45 to £50.
PSU ,750w £80
CPU cooler £15 to £20.

Leaving you roughly £250 to £300 for a GPU .

So essentially, I’m going to struggle to get something for that sort of money. Would it be worth considering AMD GPU?

Edit: cheapest I can find

AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7GHz Socket AM5

Is £190

Yes, but the comparison is complicated and depends on what you're doing with the PC.

Generally speaking, if you just want a 1080p or entry level 1440p PC, then the 4060 is fine and the low power consumption is a nice bonus.

Both the 4060 Ti 8GB and 3070 only have 8GB of VRAM, which is probably going to be an issue (harder to manage for optimal visual quality/frame stutter) in the longer-term if you're playing at 1440p.

You need to use a certain Chinese marketplace that we can't flat out name, a few people have ordered 7500F and 5700X3D's from there lately without problems.

You can get an AMD 6750XT for less than a 4060ti also, which is what I'd be looking at.

Even for a budget system I'd not be happy spending £300 + for 8gb of VRAM, they're shockingly overpriced.

A 3070 is faster than a 4060 and roughly the same as a 4060ti.
second hand 3070 for under £300 but still the problem is its only 8gb card.

The 7600 comes with a cooler in the box too, so saves a few quid.

7600
B650 mobo
32GB 6000 C30 EXPO RAM
~750W PSU
Case
1TB NVMe

runs to about £500 on OCUK, not leaving much for a GPU. You can of course source parts elsewhere but we can't help with prices but could suggest specific components.
