My sister and i share a Broadband connection Via a Netgear DG632..


She has the Router / Modem attached to her pc and i have the Ethernet cable.


The Broadband speed is 2mb/s, we also live less than a mile away from the Exchange.


Ive ran speedtest.net and it gives me a download speed of 1925 Kb/s, But when i try and download Patches etc from Filecloud using my UNCAPPED Download speed account i only get a stable 230KB/s..


This also seems to happen on most other download sites, Please can you explain to me why i don't get 1925kb/s

If i remember correctly when you run a speed test is shows you the maximum speed that it blips or peaks as so everyone should get close to what they are paying for.

But when you download, remember the computer at the other end is uploading and you will only receive the file as fast as they send it. There are also other factors that can slow things down, like how busy the ISP is, how many people are on the exchange etc etc.
