That board a poor overclocker as there are no BIOS controls for core and DIMM voltage. I'm thinking that the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 Would be a better choice.

Not too sure about that psu, I know my x1900xt needs a 500w minimum, maybe can confirm a 400w will work with an x1800xt?

Apart from that, it looks a nice little setup. ;)

what case and PSU would you guys recommend???

Also with regards to Overclocking, this PC is for my dad, and he only really uses it for video editing and internet and email....

He wouldnt have a clue how to overclock, (come to think of it neither would i, lol)

Thanks guys

Its gonna be difficult on your budget, but a 500w psu and a cheapo case would be the order of the day.

The x1800/1900xts need power.

H'mmmm....

Looks like i'm a bit messed up then..... If anyone has any suggestions please let me know... I dont mind cutting back on the HDD size if need be..

Do you really need such a powerfull gaming graphics card as your father prolly wont use it to play games?

If he's gonna game then thats a different matter.

Well he aint gonna do any gaming what so ever. He only needs to do video editing.... I thought for video editing you need a powerful graphics card...

What graphics card would you suggest for video editing.

Thanks a lot Jimbo

So no gaming? If yes, drop the GFX for a 'reasonable' one & get him a faster/better CPU & RAM for video editing, e.g...

Depends, if CAD stuff then you require a powerful card BUT not the one's here on OcUK (well apart from maybe the Matrox's), e.g. NVIDIA Quadro & ATI FireGL. Basically those cards are good for that kind of work, the likes of X1800XT, etc are good for gaming :)

Crucially you need a faster processor & loads of RAM (>2GB)

I agree :)

You might want to get a fast hard drives like one of the seagate's with the 16mb buffer for a bit more since he will be wanting to write large files of data.

You don't need the 1800 xt and the money would be better spent on a CPU in my opinion

What cpu cooler would be good for the above setup??? I think i'll probably get that one.

By going for the Gigabyte MB as opposed to the Cheaper Asrock one, will i notice any difference??

Gigabyte motherboard is much better, should be a lot faster too. Cooler to get would be - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) (HS-017-AR)
