Hi,
i currently own a 5 year old fuitsu siemens 1.4Ghz P4 computer, and thought it was about time i move on.

Instead of buying every single component, i will be using some of my old computer parts for the new computer as this can save quite a bit of money for me. This consists of

400gig harddrive
Dvd writer
Dvd-rom
500w PSU ATX
Computer case

OK onto the new stuff:

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) (MY-092-CS)
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-061-GI)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.13GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-127-IN) Bundle = £452.34

HIS ATI Radeon X1900 XT ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-061-HT) = £187.99

Altec Lansing VS2221 2.1 Speaker System = £31.71

========
Total £672.05

OK, just wanted to hear what you guys thought i of the setup ive chosen. Im not 100% sure whether to go for nvidia or ATi, so ill leave that up to you to decide. Im thinking of upgrading the cpu bundle to the 2.4GHz core2duo version (300MHz more than the current one), but is it worth it?

Any comments are welcome.

will you be overclocking? if yes I would change that cpu to a e6300 or e6600 only difference between 2 cpus is a) stock speed and b) size of cache..

again if overclocking you may want to get the geil RAM or Gskill HZ...

ATI runs hotter, require a more juice and are noiser then the Nvidia's.....

no i wont be overclocking, as im not much an overclocker fanatic :)

Should i be going for the graphics card ive listed or a EVGA GeForce 7900 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) = £187.77

is my current power supply 500w adequete for the new components?

I'd say you should overclock that setup tbh
otherwise there are other motherboards etc that you'ed be better off with than a DS3 tbh, as thats mainly an overclocking mobo

the x1900 xtx is better...as you can see from the above link

500 psu should be fine although it depends which PSU you have and the volt rails etc but as you will not be overclocking I would think it would be fine :)

Also as you dont wanna overclock you may wanna get the cheaper asrock board as you have chosen a great overclocking by going with the DS3...

Hope that helps

Thanks guys for your comments, really appreciate it.

From what ive read, my motherboard is perhaps more than what i want, and i could save money by going down a couple of models.

Could anyone care to suggest a few motherboards for my needs?

Thanks
