IGNORE ram price has gone up :(

Go with some cheaper Ram instead ?

Probably not much between the Asus and Gigabyte although I am no expert on VRM's. You do get better warranty support though with Gigabyte and also a Forum rep (GIGA Man).

The non 'X' cpu saves you £30. Just overclock it.

The Team Group 3000MHz ram for £99.99 is a pretty good buy. Obviously not Samsung B die like the 8Pack stuff. Should still run fine though.

Was too slow in deciding I reckon

Separate high and low side FETs tend to have higher power losses/lower efficiency than more modern powerstage FETs.
So it'll likely need some amount more cooling.

Lots of complete excrement VRMs in those "lower end" ones.
Asus Strix B450-F had its VRM overheat in 12 minutes with stock 2700X doing X264 encoding!
And Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro's VRM reached 101C in 20 minutes.
By The Stilt's words:
"There's not much to say about both Asus and Gigabyte motherboards. Actions of both makers are completely substandard. In vehicle inspection terms both are fails for not being able to reliably work with all advertised CPUs."

Asrock B450M Pro actually has stronger VRM than those motherboards.
While having its heatsink open to airflow instead of being sabotaged by marketing BS covers.

(Google Translate would do mostly understandable job)

I actually went for the gigabyte x470 aorus gaming 7 but that was double the price I intended to spend on a MB. That was because of the lack of choice in what I could find to be a fairly good all round board to support a 2700x. As for covering the VRM heatsink with flashy plastic covers, that makes no sense to me. I wish they would up the quality of the components/cooling and cut out the bling/RBG. I don't spend my money or time to look at my pc case and it components, I look at the monitor or soon the oculus.

Thanks for all the advice guys
Kinda lost the interest in upgrading atm now:p
My fault ` if you snooze ,you lose`:o
