I am going to build a new system in early April what do you think of this system so far;

Asus P6X58D Premium Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard - £239.99

Intel Core i7 930 2.80Ghz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366) – Retail - £239.99

Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel - £139.99

Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler - £69.99

Arctic Cooling MX-3 Thermal Compound - £6.99

Corsair TX 850W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply - £99.99

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache – OEM - £86.99

LiteOn IHAS524-32 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter with LabelTag - (Black) Retail - £20.99

Belkin Wireless Desktop Card * N1 - £14.00

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Full Version (PC DVD) - £88.99

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard - £60.99

Logitech G9x Laser Mouse - £64.99

Akasa Internal Smart 8 Port Card Reader - £14.99

I am not 100% sure on the motherboard, HDD and PSU. What are your opinions. I am also not sure on which graphics card I should get what would you go for to cooperate with the above spec?

Thanks.

Ok I will make the PSU a 750W

I will also make the DVD-RW a Sony Optiarc DRU-870S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - Retail - £25.99

I have a Sony home cinema system down stairs and I have neevr had a problem with Sony (great quality under my experience).

If you intend to go for the Corsair TX 750W PSU I'd suggest you stick with the TX 850W one.7 pounds extra for another hundred watts.;)

Good point :)

Now may I ask what manufactures I should go for and which ones to stay away from for GPU's please :)

Ive read that XFX have a crappy Return policy in the EU is that true?

I think Asus look good but I am not sure. Would the 5970 be any much bigger performance than the Crossfire 5850's?

I've had only XFX in the past but if I were to buy a HD5850 I would go for the Asus one.Its the cheapest and has the longest warranty. The HD5970 is basically 2xHD5870 so it will offer a little more performance than 2xHD5850s but the difference will not be noticeable.http://images.hardwarecanucks.com/image//skymtl/GPU/SAPPH-HD5970/SAPPH-HD5970-23.jpg

As for the XFX Return Policy...you won't need to worry about that as OCUK will take care of it.

Thanks for that graph :)

Definately not worth another £100 for an extra ~4fps :P

x2 Asus 5850's it is then :)

Thanks everyoen i think I am sorted now. Oh and I also forgot to add that I already have an Antec 902 case sitting in my room now I got it a while back.

I had to send my XFX 4870X2 back to Ocuk as this failed, got a full refund after 4 weeks.

Ok that sounds rather bad. Failing and it took a month to get the full refund I would rather go with a reliable GPU :S
