Any comments and advice would be gratefully received especially concerning
how to overclock and what ghz to aim for. I should be running 2x 32 inc screens as well as 2x 22 monitors all at 1920x1080. This will be connect to a five speaker system powered by a 40 watt pe channel amp.

What do you think guys ....

Solomon

Thanks guys

Have to say its all done and dusted and now ordered. Ill have to hope the mobo is not an issue , after researching it I thought Asus had resolved all the probs.
I checked the antec power supply and it fits the the case accoprding to there web, quite apprehensive regarding the looks its a bit wild for my usual conservative outlook
but it may well brighten up under my desk lol.
Already have a couple of spare samsung 1tb drives and look forward to the ssd drive just hope it lives up to ots rep.

Be doing some heavy duty photoshopping and into exploring virtual / hyper -v hence the reason for the maxxed out ram ......it certainly a hell of a lot cheaper than when i paid 300 qiud for 8 mb's many moons ago.

Any advice on the overclocking potential of this setup would be great

thanks again for your comments guys its been a good intro to the forum.

Now you tell us.

I haven't recovered yet from typing all that wonderful advice

It was good advice and most of all it let me know at least I have'nt cocked up in spending my hard earned dosh......a slight problem of how to avoid my better half tomorrow when it all arrives .....dont think ill be sneaking the case and 2nd 32 inch screen by her very easily. Any ideas guys .......how do you blind side the boss lol

thanks again for all your efforts

With Crossfired cards you can only use the display connections on one card.

You want to connect 4 displays?

You'll have to connect using 2xDVI + 2xDisplayPort or DVI + HDMI + 2xDisplayPort.

You'll need 2 displays with DisplayPort inputs or you'll need to get adapters to connect DisplayPort to whatever connections your displays have.

You can't use 2xDVI + HDMI at the same time. Only 2 out of the 3.

I hope that makes sense.

Ah seems I did **** up after all ......nowhere did I find you could only utilise
one of the graphic card connections..........would it be possible to connect using the mobo connection for everday computing ?

I'm not sure what you mean.

Could you give us the make and model numbers of the 4 displays you have?

[/B]Basically I have two lg 22" flatrons and by tomoz 2 lcd TV/monitors.

I was hoping to utilise the lg's via the mobo and i7 chip graphics and connect the two 32's via hdmi.......am I correct in this ? However if use crossfire I will require adapters as per your advice ?? Does that make sense ??

thanks Surveyor for your patience....I am possibly a bit long in the tooth to be getting into PC gaming however I have the time now to aqquire a new skill set and learning curve.... trying though

cheers
Sol

I don't believe you can use the integrated GPU at the same time as a separate graphics card.

You can only switch between one or the other, if that's what you're after, or do you want to use all 4 displays at once?

Can you be more specific regarding the exact model number of the LG monitors and the make and model of the TV/monitors?

TV/monitors Hannspree ST321MNB 32" LCD TV Full HD 1080p 4 x HDMI,vga Black
6,5ms
LG LG W2261VP Full HD TFT LCD 22" HDMI.dvi, vga

I was under the impession you could utilise the grapics on the Asus P8Z68-V PRO at the same time as the discrete cards if not looks like I will have to forgo crossfire and use dvi and both hdmi on each card and utilise the catalyst suite to span the monitors ??

I get the impression you can't reading the motherboard manual.

Perhaps someone else knows for certain.

You should be able to connect your 4 displays to the Crossfired 6950's.

As I said you can only use the connectors from 1 card.

You can use the 2 DVI connections to connect to DVI on the LG displays.

You can use the 2 mini DisplayPort connectors with adapters to connect to the Hannspree displays. I think you can use the cheaper MiniDisplayport to VGA adapters rather than the more expensive "active" adapters.

Again perhaps someone with more experience in this area can confirm this.

Cheers Surveyor ....let u know in a few days what Ive managed to set up.
Its all part of the learning curve .....I jst love to tinker and Im sure that the setup will give me hours of fun.....
Fortunate enough now to indulge myself a little
