I live in an old detached house, we had intruders between the floors.
I told the council I "thought" it could be rats, they said there would be no cost, however they'd need to rip the fitted carpet + floorboards up. That's not on mate
Every time we went out I played a cassette player placed upside down directly over the location we could hear them. Take it from me, they soon left, the music which I played very loud, couldn't have been their cup of tea.
I've checked the external perimeter of the building and there are no holes or external pipes it would be possible for them to enter. So I can only assume it possible via a sewage pipe?
Just to let you know a mouse only really needs a gap about the thickness of a normal pencil to get in via - so do not assume there isn't a gap somewhere for them to get in that you just cannot see.
