Hi all,

I purchased the following motherboard and memory from Overclockers and have read something needing to increase the voltage so the ram works?

Motherboard: Asus M3A78 AMD

Memory: OCZ 8GB (4x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2

I have 4gb installed already and putting in the other 4gb today so would really appreciate if anyone could please advise on anything I need to do.

I have Windows Vista 64bit Home Premium installed.

Oh also have noticed that it takes an awfully long time to get into Windows far slower than on my old system.

I have a Samsung 160gb Sata II hard drive - I removed the pin select plastic thing as read on the drive about something to do with faster performance if I removed it???

That memory should run fine at 1.8v, so you shouldn't have to touch the memory voltage.

You will, however, probably have to up the Northbridge Voltage by anothing upto 0.1v to boost it for running 4 sticks (tho I've no personal experience of running 4 sticks on a 790 board).

Which version of the M3A78? There seems to be quite a few versions of it.

If it's there then it's likely in Advanced>JumperFree Config. You'll have to chance AI Overclocking to Manual for the NB voltage option to appear.

I got the green version thats all I know, I updated to the latest bios yesterday. I saw the NB voltage option but it says NB-CPU something like that also I can only increase the voltage by +50 or +100ma i think it said.

That's a different option. The Northbridge Voltage option should be 3 or 4 options below that one.

When set to manual it should give you two more options. Try upping one or both of them to see if it helps.
