Please Help A BF2 fan out

I have had to install BF2 once again I have patched to 1.41 I can load up game but when I start or join server it will loading map to about 20% then crash out and dump me back at desktop.

Any ideas as to why? this is happening

x1800xt with cat 7.2's

I may be wrong but personally i think it is a Res issue, i did read your other posts but others answered so i left it. It does sound like a resolution conflict to me, there were a lot of weird problems caused by Res issues back when the game was released. Iirc it has to be in default res as does your monitor the first time you fire it up or you get black screen or the symptons you describe. What monitor and settings have you got/do you run & have you tried dropping your screen res to BF2 defaults ?
 
nope 15% load and it crashes !


i use +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050


which i what i have always used .

edit : tried it as normal re still crashes at 14% map load !

also sometime i click on icon it flashes up bf2 flash then nothing! I can see bf2.exe as a process and ~e5.0001.exe as process .

This sometimes happen if there's a network problem since BF2 uses a cd-key check every time you fire the game up. I am probably miles out but check firewall settings.

Also, as said previously, screen res is an issue some of the time/most of the time.
 
thought as much just a bad install, i had that too. when i wiped my system and was installing. was getting errors but with BF2142. so i unistalled and reinstalled worked fine ;)
