Hey gang, I was quite happy with my E6400 at 2.7GHz, but there's loads of life in it yet, so I upped the RAM voltage by 0.1v and now the pc doesn't work. When I turn it on, the PSU fan spins, the two case fans spin and the gfx card fan spins, all at 100% (really loud). The CPU fan doesn't spin and all that white data that gets posted where you can enter the BIOS or just boot up doesn't appear, just a black screen. I've taken the battery out, i've used the ground (1) and ground (2) connectors from the case to cover the two clr_cmos pins. What else can I try?

Hi, check the PSU and swap it over you can to test, but it sounds like to me that if a bios reset won't cure the problem, then you may have fried the RAM by upping the voltage, or you have fried the CPU.

Test the RAM 1st, either 1 stick at a time or different RAM and see if you can get the PC to boot.

I've tried swapping the RAM in different slots, one a time, both at the same time. I haven't got anymore DDR2 kits around. I went from an AGP system to a PCI-e system so I can't really swap anything over.

If you are sure that you haven't put too much voltage through the RAM or CPU, then the only other option is that the mobo has blown and will need a RMA. Something must have happened to the RAM/mobo or CPU, as if it was working fine up till you up the RAM voltage, and a CMOS reset won't clear it, then eliminate the possible problems and you are left with faulty RAM/Mobo/CPU, and sounds like the mobo or RAM to me though, unless the CPU has gone.

By the Way, what RAM make is it?
