Hi
First of all - I'm not interested in overclocking as such; I just want to build a powerful PC for high definition video editing and rendering which is very processor intensive. So I have:
Intel QX6700 core 2 extreme
2gb Geil ULL memory
2 x SATA drives
1 x IDE DVD
1 x Sapphire 1950 Pro 512mb PCI-e graphics
Foxconn 975X7AB motherboard
Arctic freezer 7 pro cpu cooler
Jeantech Phong 2 case
FSB Bluestorm 500 PSU
the case has a fan at front and rear with manual controls
System boots OK and the Fox One utility shows an idle status as follows:
Frequencies
CPU - 266
DRAM - 966 - no idea where this comes from - its 800mhz memory
PCIe - 100
Vold
CPU - 0.86
DRAM - 2.1
Temp
CPU - 14
System - 32
One of the first things I was to render a complex high def sequence. Starts off fine and the CPU temp settles at about 58 degrees with CPU voltage at 1.44. But the at random points the sytstem shuts down - a high pitched whistling noise comes somewhere on the motherboard (can't identify exactly where), and I have to switch off at the PSU.
Driving me mad - any help really appreciated.
Thanx
Ian
