Have had probs with pc - ended up re-installing Windows (XP professional)......purchased copy from Overclockers (oem version with product key on a cellofane covering) - of course I threw the packaging away and now have no product key.........anything I can do? I bloody hope so considering I bloody paid for it only a couple of weeks ago......

Thanks

Nic

That's just ridiculous. I only bought it a couple of weeks ago. Where's the incentive for me to buy microsoft products legitimately in the future when they just screw you when you have a problem.

Is the activated XP installed? Or did you format then realise you don't have the CDkey? I don't fully understand your post.

If it is installed with the correct key there are ways to get it back.

Ah right. Well you're out of luck then. Basically the same as the other guys have said, they may be able to help you out with a discounted key.

Calling someone stupid when they are looking for help is pretty pathetic if you ask me. Whereas I am well within my rights to call myself stupid, you are not. If you've got nothing useful to say, try shutting up.

well that was abit of a stupid thing to do tbh.....
You don't say. Did you really have to add that?

What I want to know would you be morally and legally (if you could honestly prove it) correct to get a pirated copy. I would think so :)

Disclaimer: I don't condone piracy

Well it was you who threw the license key away, so it's hardly their fault...

It's certainly unfortunate, but you did throw out the key with the packaging.

If you had purchased a full retail copy, this wouldn't of occured. If you purchased a second OEM version, you would still be paying less than the retail version.

how are microsoft ridiculus?
you bought somthing from a company who supplied you with what you purchased then you lost some of it.... you cant EXPECT them to replace it. and say they are screwing you if they dont...

if you went to the bank and drew £100 out and lost your wallet would that be the banks fault? would they be screwing you too? would you EXPECT them to give you the money?

if your not intelligent enough to safeguard things then its your own fault i mean c'mon the cd key is a sticker to stick on your pc so you DONT loose it.. what else can microsoft do?

I'm not aware of any companies that make you pay for their products again if you throw the packaging away.
