Please help - can't login to LOTR online

This is a weird one - I got the key and downloaded the client from fileplanet but it was corrupt, so I did it again, and it was corrupt again. Eventually I found a downloader and got the game installed and updated. Trouble is, the username/password I created on COG online doesn't let me in, and when I attempt to create a user name password on the turbine site that you get to when you click the 'Create username' from the game launcher says my key is invalid.

Am I doing everything right? Have I downloaded a US Beta client and can only play if I get the one from fileplanet? Has anyone got any ideas, because I'm not willing to order this unless I can get an idea of how it plays first.

Any ideas?
 
all i can remember from my beta days were going to the cog site and then you have to choose a 'subscription ' from a drop down box.

you choose lotr beta and that should activate your keys.






unless of course you have already done that part, in which case ........

When I login to the COG site using my credentials I see this: -

LOTRO Beta open N/A No payment required

I already entered my key to set up this login, and it works on the COG site to get into my a/c. Could it be because I used the LOTR downloader rather than the fileplanet zip file I have the wrong version?
 
whoah big fella ! first off, are we confusing keys with accounts?

like my cog account was for example

user name= the hulk of powah password=cloppacastle


but a key is XC356-34CCTR-8712W etc etc.


even though its beta and you dont have to pay you stilll need to activate your key,which in cog website parlance = subscription.

in fact, im so nice i will go and check my cog thingy now for you.

EDIT:- ok i cant get into that part of the website anymore so i cant be 100% sure, but try to do as i suggested and post back if youre still foxed... or try asking on the cog forum ?? (it is their 'problem' after all ??)
