Just making me think i should just go for the 6950 due to my mobo being xfire compatable? I can also pop another card in the near future?

oh this was fun, get people replying then just end up getting what you wanted in the first place.

what motherboard? many say xfire supported but due to pci-e 'lanes' they're not suited fror xfire.

lol sorry :S i just wanted to discuss the whole topic etc. My motherboard is the Gigabyte H55M-UD2H. What do you think of the results i posted? it looks like the 6950 is on par with the 570.

Gigabyte H55M-UD2H

Crossfire? its a 16X/4X board.

Stick to single cards.

Looking at the link I posted after at a higher resolution I would say the GTX570 is a touch faster.

Ahh im baffed hehe, coz when i was looking at my mobo when installing it has two pci e slots with the mobo engraved saying ' crossfire'.
What makes u say to stick to single cards?

Also with my budget etc and 570 being a touch faster id rather save the pounds and go with the 6950 as it is very close on the charts. However, the 560 ti is under performing with the 6950 but thats a 1 gb card, id love to see how the 2gb 560 performs.

It's CrossFire compatible but the second x16 slot only runs at x4 speed which can be a bottleneck on performance.

Some benchmarks here showing the effect of running at x16/x4 like your motherboard.

wow that really sucks :O has totally changed my thoughts on xfiring, it looks like single cards is the way to go for me then....

I am sure I read somewhere that there are quite a few 560ti owners having problems with bf3. I know, I know....lots of people have problems with bf3 but I am sure I read that bf3 and the ti just don't gel together.
By the way, 2gb HIS ice Q turbo 6950 here....no real issues with game tbh, can't remember what settings I am running as I use a config tool to set my video, as the game locks up if I use the in game video tab...my only issue, not the end of the world. All I can say is it looks sweet and its smooth too.

Just bought myself a Radeon Toxic from OCUK and flicked the switch to unlock it to a 6970, so they are still out there if you can find them ;)

wow your lucky then :P i dont know if i should get the toxic or go for the msi TIII power edition as that looks pretty sweet in specs! Are the chances of unlocking the toxic a coin toss?

Get a 5850 from the members market.

You asked for the best bang for buck, it can run at medium settings and get 60fps, you will not notice the difference between med and anything higher, or at least not worth spending twice the money.

Just to add my tuppence worth. I have a 560ti and I get average 65 fps @1920x1080 on high settings.

It is the Gigabyte 560ti OC @ 900

ultra is lower but still playable but I stick with high as that surfices.

The Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 "Dual Fan Edition" has a dual bios and the reviews say it unlocks to 6970

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-273-SP&tool=3

I read about that too. After doing research i am reading how unlocking to a 6970 is only a 2-3% difference in performance? And getting a msi TF3 and overcloking it will be a better overal performance. So much to take in lol :(

I like the fps your getting with that and its making me lean towards a 560 super overclcoked. However, im a bit worried about the vram :( You mention on ultra its a bit lower, do you rekon its becuase of the low vram due to ultra needing the extra vram? I keep reading bf3 sometimes uses 1.2 gb vram +

It is because I have only 1 gig of vram and on ultra (from what I have read) seems to require more. Allthough if I turn AA off on ultra it runs smoothly with no glitching.

I am at work till 10pm so will post my fps on ultra when I get home if ya like?
