Please help!! Completed new system build. Few Problems

Hi All,

quickly typing this as not sure if my computer is going to blow it,
yesterday i sucessfully built my first pc, E6300 system, with an AC7 cooler, for some reason when i turn on my pc sometimes the fan does not move at all!! it just stays and eveyr now and again twitches as though its trying to work, i have tried this in both SYS FAN and CPU FAN sockets on my MB, what could it be, also on the post boot up screen where it checks your RAM etc, sometimes it freezes on this screen saying "MAIN PROCESSOR: INTEL(R) CORE 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHZ (266X7) <CPUID:06F6 PATCH ID:00447

and it does not move from that screen, keyboard doesnt respond to anything, like trying to get into BIOS etc.

your help would be much aprpeciated, as im gettin worried something could go very wrong! i will take some pictures tonight so you can see how it looks, been complimented on tidyness a few times by friends, but i dont think its that bad for my first build.

i has just done it agen now! had to restard 3 times until it came on! this time it didnt even post the CPU info, it just had a line saying what my motherboard was (Gigabyte DS3) i dont have a motherboard near by, took my fan to a mates house and it worked first time at full speed.
 
By default the DS3 CPU fan only comes on when it's needed.

Try updating your BIOS to f7 to see if it fixes the POST issues.
 
where woul di get the updated bios, link if possible please.
The RAM seems to be fine when its booting up the Memory Check says everything is ok and its running in dual mode.
the fan is workin fine at the minute so should it be ok.
 
also i was thinking of doing a benchmark test, whats the best to use, should i expect to get good results from

E6300
2GB Geil Ram
Geforce 7950GT 512MB
 
You can either stick it on a floppy and do it from within the BIOS, or use the Gigabyte @BIOS utility to do it from within Windows.
 
ok, my pc has been on for a good few hours now and i just checked the cpu temp in the bios and it said 23C.
and the system tempreature is 28C.
does everything seem ok temp wise there?
