Hi guys im looking to build a new PC soon but would like to take one or two parts from my old system. I have been having one or two problems with it and not sure where the fault lies.

About two weeks ago i booted my PC to find it couldnt see my HDD (1tb Samsung F3) I unplugged the sata cable and placed it another sata port directly next to it on motherboard. PC booted and found hard drive.

All seemed ok but noticed i would get freezes of up to 10 seconds on some occassions. Looked in event viewer and noticed loads of the same error....

"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0."

I had had issue with my DVD drive in the past also, wouldnt open and no power some days.

Soooooo, i replaced the sata cable and placed it into another Sata connection on a different section of the mobo. I also removed the DVD drive.

I am now getting no errors in event viewer. I have done ram checks and hdd checks which picks up no errors.

Am i correct in assuming this has to be a motherboard issue?

I would like to keep my corsair 850w and 1TB hdd. Perhaps even my dvd drive is ok and its just my mobo dying?

Thanks for your time.
