Hey guys

Please help!

As all you lot who play MS Flight Sim know the flight plans are stored as .FLT files in the C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files location.

So to load a flight; rather than start the sim and select the plan from there I dive right into the Flight Simulator Files folder, double-click the plan and off we go.

I had set Windows to associate all .FLT extensions with FS9.EXE but since yesterday its gone a bit wierd. The associations with .FLT files have reset themselves to open with Notepad

So I went through the hoops of trying to get Windows to associate (open with) .FLT with FS9.EXE but it just wont work. I arrive back at the "Open With" window again with nothing done. XP just refuses to do it.

Can you help, some kinda registry thingy perhaps? Thanx!!

If looks to me like you aren't on XP SP2 which i think has a different system for this kind of thing.

Sounds right to me, the full version is here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307859 .

Isn’t there a repair option for the simulator, try that. Run installler and select from there.

Yea thats where the problem is :( After I've browsed to and chosen the fs9.exe it does not appear on the Open With list in that dialog window. Its as if nothing happened!

Thanks for the replies though and simulatorman cheers m8 will check out that link!

Are you on XP SP2? Did you have the option to always use application before the problem arose?

Yes XP Home SP2 and this problem is only a day old. Was working fine all this time. Was just double-clicking the .FLT of choice and flight sim would start up!
