I thought i would do my first build

I got a

GIGABYTE P35 DS4 with a E6850 3ghz processor
Sapphire ATi Radeon HD 2600 XT
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro SKT 775 PWM
Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5 2 X 2GB
Antec P180 Computer Case + Seasonic SS-600HT PSU

Set i up and tried to turn it on i started the machine, the fans kick in for a few seconds and then stop again.

So i took it apart after a little while checked the cpu and re mounted it it worked only with 1 ram furthest from cpu

I updated the bios to f8 restarted now nothing just the loop ive tried 1 ram etc but nothing

I took the ATX_12V_2X power out and now the graphics card fan works and powerit doesnt restart but cpu fan doesnt kick in and nothing on moniter and no beeps

Ive tried to clear cmos took battry out for 10 hrs still the loop

Any help would be great

Thxs

The Fans not coming on are normal... The CPU needs to get hotter for them to come on.

How long are you leaving it before deciding its not coming on?

Also, the DS4 does actually require an 8-pin power connection as well as the 4 pin Molex and the 20+4Pin ATX Connectors... Are you connecting one there??? - you can get away with a 4-pin one actually.

Also, just fill the RAM slots up, some RAM is finiky for me to!!! - I ended up getting 4 and it was fine!!!

Good news

For some reason the cpu welded it self to the motherboard so i a bit peed off to say the least

And that was just from just a boot loop

Now can i RMA the board or cpu?

If so how do i go about it as i bought of of fleabay

It over heated.....badly!

I doubt you would have much luck with a RMA as you did a self build and b0rked it. I dont think "I melted the CPU to the motherboard" is covered under either warranty, but you never know :p

If the parts were bought second hand, I would try to find out how long the warranty has left. If you bought it brand new, then I would get in contact with the mobo and cpu retailer via a very polite email. Best of luck!

Sorry I cant be any more help!

Hey, I had a Mobo that had a stick of RAM welded to it, and I was also wondering WTF I could do about any kind of Warranty

Sure, it done it cos I was clocking the knob off the setup and it was all my own fault I suppose, but I got in touch with abit about it, got an RMA and I was sent a new Mobo and corsair also sent me the RAM.

Dotn know whether it was the RAM or the Mobo that failed, but it must have been the Mobo sending too much volts to the RAM for it to weld itself to the Mobo for sure???

So, got to be worth a shot.

When you say welded do you mean that the CPU is stuck really strongly to the HSF? If it is that then try sliding a razor blade or craft knife blade between the HSF and CPU.
edit ;- sorry ignore as I read it that it was stuck to the HSF. Me bad
