Hey guys I have built my own pc system and I am having trouble with the RAM. Please can someone help.

This is the link to the bundle I bought for part of my system:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-008-GI

CPU: I7 4790K 4.00ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97X gaming 7
Memory: Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8gb)
PSU: Superflower hx 750w.

After I had installed all the components, I had changed the specification of the memory to the manufacturing specs - 2400MHz with 11 13 13 31 timing clocks with the volt auto changed to 1.644v, started getting blue screen. I used memtest86+ and tested both memory modules. During the test 100+ errors were found. One of the RAM modules were taken out and I did another 2 tests with the RAM at the current settings and then at default settings. The settings were changed back to 1600MHz with timing clocks auto changed to 11 11 11 28 running with 1.5v, No errors appeared and since then I have had no blue screens with the one module installed. I have yet to check the other RAM module, as this one could be the same problem but I was curious why errors were found with the manufacturers specifications and none with default?

I have checked the compatibility of each component and they all match but the RAM does not show in the Qualified Vendors List (QVL) on the Gigabyte file list. The specifications of the RAM match to the motherboards support specs. Does that make them incompatible or not tested ?

Could this be faulty RAM? The motherboard or CPU capping the memory to 1600MHz? Or a setting I have missed ?

Thanks, any help or advice will be appreciated.

Usually that is faulty ram module, I had issues a few years ago with some OCZ Gold ram with the same traits as your getting.

Place a note in the customer section (I took a photo of the Memtest result as well so they see all the settings).

One thing might work is try a BIOS update (assuming your not on the latest now)

And welcome to the forums :)

ah ok thanks :) the motherboard is up to date with F6 bios version dated - 30/05/14

Edit: Would I need to place a note in the OcUk Customer service section on the forums ? It shows private for me.

Also I changed the xmp to profile 1 and got system service exception bsod when I closed down a game after it was running for over 1hr.

Just make a thread in that section, it says private, because only admins can see your post, no-one else.
