Please help, I have no control over my case fans!

So I have guild a new PC consisting of a brand new Silverstone RV01-E case. Everything was fine until I plugged the case fans in, they are running at 1600rmp which I'm assuming is 100%, but either way I have no control and they are turning my near silent PC into a humming machine.

I've spent hours researching and downloading tools (like speedfan) to no avail. The mobo (MSI Z97I Gaming AC) lets me change the speed settings but it has no effect...however for the CPU fan it's working 100% fine?

Any ideas?

Oh, and the PC is running really cool - CPU (i5 4690k) @ 45 and GPU (1060) @ 23

but fails to see any fans!?

I'm at a loss as to what to do next

edit - just had a thought, the case fans are 3 pin and the cpu fan is 4 pin...I wonder if that's the issue? seems silly to provide a case like this with non controllable fans!

3 pin fans are controllable through voltage. Motherboard software might work or maybe look in the bios. Otherwise something like a grid+ v2 will allow control (though i recommend using grid-control over CAM)

cheers for the reply - assume I don't understand this grid and CAM talk please!?

As I said, mobo bios lets me change CPU fine however I can adjust the speed of system but it makes no difference. I have tried a couple of mobo specific tools but can't find any fan speed options.

edit - ok, so grid is an external controller - plug fans into it and control via software...seems expensive for something I should be able to just do? also not sure case will have space due to its compact design

If your motherboard doesn't support fan control via voltage (which the manual suggests it doesn't) then the option is to change the fans or change the controller.

Fan control is something lacking on a lot of boards. When it does work it's normally really bad. Which is why I bought the grid+. It's very small and can be made smaller by removing the case.

You can buy some cheap voltage reducing cables or swap the fans for some silentwings 3 pmw and back to silence!

Thanks, have ordered one as I had a £10 off ebay voucher so not too bad. At least if I add/change fans this box will make it simple.

Can you just clarify what you meant about grid control vs CAM? From what I can see CAM is the software used in conjunction with the box?

I nearly got the cheap lead but would prefer control in case I want it done the line...and I considered physical versions but would rather keep things simple. Replacing the fans would likely cost a similar amount - these fans are only rated at 18db so should be very quiet if I can just turn them down a bit
