I have recently just put together a PC with lots of new parts from here:-
i5 2500k CPU
Gigabyte Z68XP UD3P (rev 1.0) Motherboard
2 x 4GB Kingston HyperX DDR 3 Memory
Crucial M4 128GB SSD
Antec Truepower 650w PSU
Also used my MSI GTX460 that I had and F3 1tb HDD as a secondary drive (not got around to wiping yet but still using for some programmes) Creative Xtreme music sound card.
Ok so as ya can see from the top paragraph I have got quite a few new items so makes it a little more confusing.
First problems started when my sound card would sometimes stop working altogether and the only way to fix this was to reinstall the drivers. Also was getting BSOD's about "has recent hardware been added" something to do with could be a problem.
I took out my sound card cleaned and made sure it was in the PCI slot properly and reinstalled drivers. Meanwhile sometimes when browsing the Internet or using my PC my nvidea card would come up with errors saying it had stopped responding, the screen would flicker and then come back on (sometimes would stop Aero being on)
At first dismissed the graphics as possible flaky nvidea drivers and the card was hoping I'd solved it. UNTIL my Avast could no longer update and said the package could need repairing. Tried doing this and wouldn't. That too would only start working again once I reinstalled it from scratch. Occasional freezing using firefox and sometimes crashes. Also a program called Xfire all of a sudden lost my user info and had to put in again.
So a recap:-
Sound drivers going missing even though Device Manager states the card is there - have to reinstall
Nvidea drivers crashing but work afterwards.
Firefox hanging and freezing and crashes.
Virus program corrupting and needing to reinstall.
Programmes resetting user info as though they have only just been installed.
Now I dont want to resending items back if they are not at fault as heard some sites will charge you if tested and nothing wrong. But this is really puzzling me. At first thought possible motherboard (I got rev 1.0 but I know there is a 1.3 version out but not sure if in this country yet)
But then with programmes corrupting wonder if it is my M4 SSD that is at fault? Though the one I have is supposed to be really reliable. It had already got latest firmware 0009 on it out of box.
I'm sorry this is quite a long thread, just wanted to give as much information from the off as I can't work out what it could be and sounds like something could be faulty but don't want to keep doing RMA's if it becomes my expense swell as the fact being without a PC and having took ages to put it together.
After spending all that money, it's quite stressful now!
Thanks in advance but please give me your thoughts and advise so I know if there's something I can do, test or if something needs RMAing, thanks,
Mark
