Hi all, I am currently experiencing an extremely weird issue regarding installing either windows 7 or XP.

I have 3 HDDs. I tried installing XP on one of them and it simply goes through the setup process but it doesn't boot. I install it on another one and it seems to work fine.

Windows 7, tried installing it but I get a message saying:

A required CD/VDVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

I downloaded the Windows 7 upgrade utility and it stated everything was fine except for messenger, something about aero and my printer.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance.

I thought I should update this post and show how I resolved this issue as it may help others.

I found that firstly the default GIGABYTE drivers that came with my motherboad (P35-DQ6) does something to my CD and DVD drive. I know this because I was installing drivers and then creating a restore point. When I installed the default GIGABYTE drivers (SATA ones) my DVD drive went missing.

Onto the Windows 7 issue. I found that my DVD drive was the issue. I was receiving the error stating CD/DVD driver error so I went to my local rip off world to get an USB DVD drive (portable drive) and installed it from there and presto it worked!

The Windows 7 upgrade advisor didn't inform me of any CD/DVD drive incompatibility issues... it works now :)
