ok i'm currently building my first custom pc! i've encountered a few problems though and i'm not entirely sure what i need to do!

firstly i can't get my dvd-rw drive to fit! i have a raidmax black ninja case which has black clips on the drive bays! the dvd-rw drive is from a compaq presario sr1909uk and the problem is that when i move the clip it withdraws a metal peg from within the bay but there is one on the other side that doesn't seem to be removable and it's getting in the way! any ideas??

also my 320gb Sata Drive fits in the bay but the clip won't go back in! any idea why? it's firmly seated in there tho so i assume it'll be ok without the clip being closed?

the fans in the case all have the white four pin molex power connectors. on the motherboard it has connectors for system fans but i do not have these connections on the case fans. am i right in thinking that i can leave the connections on the motherboard empty and just connect the fans to the power supply?

i hope i've done all this right lol please help i'm getting stressed out!

The first two questions are specific to your case. Photos of the problem areas would help.

You are correct about the fans. If they only have plugs to connect to the PSU that's what you'll have to do.

yeah ok i'll try and get some! the hdd should be fine i reckon!
are there specific dvd drives for tool-less cases?
i'm wondering if maybe its because it's a standard compaq one!

hang on i'm uploading pics onto bebo now lol

oh and btw on my sata hdd there are three connections, one for the sata cable between the device and the motherboard and one molex connection and one that takes what looks like a larger version of the sata cable plug. i have one of these on my psu as well! which power cable do i use? the molex or the sata?

The HDD apparently allows for use with older power supplies since it has the molex connectors as well as the actual SATA-standard power connectors. Ignore the molex sockets and use the SATA power connectors.

There are not specific peripherals for toolless cases nor should the fact that the disk is OEM matter in the least.

ok on the far right you can see the pin that is in the way! thats on the right hand, non removable side of the case

another shot from the front, once again the pin is visible on the right hand side!

from the side, you can see the pin on that side is out.

from behind the bays

does this help??

Because I can't quite remember I'll check, is the Presario range only for notebooks? If so then I'm not totally surprised if you can't get it to fit into an ordinary desktop case but it would be a little bit unusual to have bought a notebook drive without specially looking for it so that is what is confusing me.

Indeed for the SATA hard drive you should only connect one power connector and the SATA data connector, it doesn't matter too much which power connector but for the sake of neatness I'd pick the SATA power one.

//edit, the right hand side of the case must be removable, I've not got the case so I don't know how but there is not a chance that it shouldn't be. The pinning system makes it so that it must. :)
