Please help me choose components for new rig.

Would you say this rig is ok? I will be using it for gaming and for 3D Animation and CGI. Please inform me of anything you think should be changed. Thanks very much.

Why the 4400 x2? Why not 3800 x2 and overclock?

A GOOD reson for the Physics card. I use a 3d application called Softimage XSI which has Ageia PhysX support for the programs dynamics system. It will make things considerably smoother when I am working with complex physics simulations. Yes I gues I could go for the 3800+ but not really into overclocking. And the Zalman heatsink is more for silence than mega performance.

So long as its not for games because theres damn all to use it at the moment.

I knew as soon as I read your specs that someone would jump all over the Phys-x card.

I would go for the 4400 if not into oc'ing.

something to ponder over would be the X1900XT? just a thought

not sure about that paticular model of ram but wouldn't the 3200 version be better if you're not into overclocking. Faster SPD

argh! I keep thinking of more things to add after I press the post button hehe

Do u need the soundblaster bay? If not, save some money and just get the xfi music

do you think it would be better for me to get an opeteron? They are better for 3d applications, don't know about games though.. Thanks for all help so far

Basically the same chips. Opty's are intended for servers so run cooler and use better silicone. I have a 165 but if I were buying again would go for the 3800x2 or 4200 x2.
